Each section of Basic Language Book 3 is based on either a fiction or non-fiction text, which is used as the source for the accompanying skill-based activities. Children are required to use reading skills such as identification of main ideas in the texts, sequencing and organising information, substantiating facts and recognising opinions.
Aspects of grammar include use of abstract and collective nouns, use of simple and compound verbs, and punctuation. Text types that the children will create include newspaper articles, poems, letter writing and story maps. The Basic Language Skills Series is designed to provide teachers with activities to develop children’s reading, writing and grammatical skills. This is the final book in the series.
