The Basic Language Skills Series is designed to provide teachers with activities to develop children’s reading, writing and grammatical skills. This is the second book in the Basic Language series. Each section of Basic Language Skills Book 2 is based on a fictional narrative which is used as a source for the accompanying skill-based activities.
Children are required to use reading skills such as prediction, interpretation and substantiation as they examine the underlying themes of each story.
Aspects of grammar that are covered include punctuation, (possessive apostrophes and quotation marks for direct speech) and parts of speech (nouns, verbs and adjectives).
Text types that the children will create include reports, letters, directions, advertisements and poetry.
